Thomas Barnardo 1845-1905

Born in Dublin. He went to London to
evangelise among the poor and was moved by the plight of children. He founded
the Barnardo Homes for Children. His motto was -No destitute child ever refused
admission. Over 8,000 children were in his homes
before 1900. His work spread to
elsewhere in the Empire. He was cremated and his ashes are buried in East
