Brian Boydell 1917-2000
Born in Dublin. Composer and conductor. He
held the chair of music in Trinity College Dublin for over 20 years. He was a
founder of the Music Association of Ireland. His compositions include A Terrible
Beauty is Born; In Memoriam Mahatma Gandhi; Richard’s Riot; and a range of
settings for the works of writers including Yeats and Joyce. His remains were
cremated in Glasnevin Cemetery.
