Alfred John Webb 1834-1908

Born in Kinsale, County Cork. He wrote a number of essays to bring about a greater understanding between political opponents. These include Opinions of Some Protestants Regarding their Catholic Fellow-Countrymen and The Alleged Massacre of 1641. He is best remembered for his Compendium of Irish Biography. This was the first of its kind and was a standard work for many years. He is buried in County Dublin.
