Isaac Weld 1774-1856

Born in Dublin. His book Travels, based on his two year journey in America and Canada, was extremely popular and was translated into French, German, Italian and Dutch. His other works included Illustrations of the  Scenery of Killarney and the Surrounding Country; and Statistical Survey of the County of Roscommon. He also invented a boat made of compressed paper and sailed it successfully on the Killarney Lakes. He is buried in Dublin.
