Thomas Tickell 1686-1740

Born at Bridekirk, Carlisle. He came to Ireland around 1723 and got married, living in Kildare for some years before moving to Dublin. He was a poet whose works include On the Prospect of Peace, On the Death Of Mr Addison and a translation of Book One of the Iliad. He also edited the Works of Addison. Although he died in England he was buried in Dublin.
