Father John Spratt 1796-1871

Born in Dublin. Well known for his contribution to charities, he founded the Sick and Indigent Roomkeepers Society. He was a great admirer of O’Connell, and was buried close to his hero. He was a great preacher and was invited to preach in Rome where he was noticed by the Pope who gave him the body of St Valentine to bring back to Dublin in 1836. He is buried in Dublin.
