Sarah Henrietta Purser 1848-1943

Born in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin. She was a portrait painter, stained glass artist, patron and collector. She founded, with Edward Martyn, An Tur Gloine, The Tower of Glass, a co-operative society where studios and equipment were provided. Examples of her work can be found in The National Gallery and the Municipal Gallery, St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, Catholic Cathedral, Loughrea and in other churches. She is buried in Dublin.
