Robert Lloyd Praeger 1865-1953

Born in Holywood, County Down. He was a civil engineer who later worked with the National Library, retiring as its chief librarian. He wrote many papers and books on the flora and fauna and the landscape of Ireland and received medals from various societies for his work. His works include Flora of the County Armagh, The Botanist in Ireland, The Natural History of Ireland and the book that attracted general readers The Way that I Went. He is buried in Dublin.
