Tyrone (William Grattan) Power 1797-1841

 Born in Waterford. He was a successful actor who also wrote novels and comedies. These include The King’s Secret, St Patrick’s Eve or the Order of the Day and O’Flannigan and the Fairies. He died returning from America aboard the steamship President, when it sank and all aboard were lost. His body was not recovered. The film actor of the same name was a great grandson.
