James Orr 1770-1816

Born in Ballycarry, County Antrim. He was a United Irishman who had to flee to America after the defeat in 1798 but was allowed back after a number of years. He was a writer and poet in the Ulster Scots dialect. His works include Poems on Various Subjects and The Posthumous Works of James Orr. He also founded the local Masonic Lodge. He is buried in County Antrim.
