Canon John O’Hanlon 1821-1905

Born in Stradbally, County Laois. He is chiefly remembered for his Lives of the Irish Saints. He also wrote a history of his native county. Other works include Legends and Lays of Ireland and Irish Local Legends. Joyce mentions him by name in the Nausicaa chapter of Ulysses. He is buried in Dublin.
