Father Michael O’Flanagan 1876-1942

Born in County Roscommon. He was a preacher of great power, a social activist and a republican. He gave the oration at the lying in state of O’Donovan Rossa; was vice president of Sinn Féin; led the prayers at the opening of the first Dáil in the Mansion House; and was suspended on more than one occasion by his bishop. He is buried in Dublin.
