George Augustus Moore 1852-1933

Born in Ballyglass, County Mayo. He wrote novels, short stories and plays and was part of the Irish literary revival. He wasnít a popular figure and although he loved Ireland, he didnít care so much for its people. His works include Esther Waters, Hail and Farewell, The Lake, A Drama In Muslin, The Brook Kerith, Heloise and Abelard and many others. 

            He was cremated at Golders Green Crematorium, London. The ashes were laid to rest on Castle Island, Lough Carra.

The other grave is that of his father who was buried in the graveyard adjoining Moore Hall.
