William Maginn

















































William Maginn 1793-1842

 Born in Cork. He contributed to Blackwoods Magazine and co-founded Fraserís Magazine which published his Homeric Ballads. He also wrote novels, poetry and criticisms. By 1840 his fortune and reputation were ruined by drink and in 1842 he was arrested and put in the Fleet Prison in London for debt.  His funeral was attended only by a very few friends. He is buried in Walton-on-Thames Parish church in London but the exact spot where his remains lie is unknown.
