Bryan MacMahon 1909-1998

Born in Listowel, County Kerry. He was a school teacher and was one of the founders of the Listowel Drama Group and the Writers Week. He wrote short stories, novels and plays. He also wrote the pageant that was staged in Croke Park to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Easter Rising. He translated Peig Sayers’ autobiography and his works include: The Lion Tamer, The Sound of Hooves, Children of the Rainbow, The Honey Spike, The Red Petticoat and his autobiography The Master. He is buried in Listowel.
