Walter Macken 1915-1967

Born in Galway. He was a member of the Abbey Company and played the lead role on Broadway in The King of Friday’s Men. He wrote plays, short stories and novels. His works include Rain on the Wind, Hero, Seek The Fair Land, The Silent People, The Scorching Wind and Brown Lord of the Mountains. His story Flight of the Doves was made into a successful film. He is buried in Galway.
