Born in Charleville, County Cork. He was one of the leading poets in Munster and his farm was a gathering point for other poets and was known as the Court of Poetry. Despite this, he didn’t always get along with his fellow poets and one of his satires on the death of a landlord, caused enough annoyance locally that he was forced to leave the area. He is buried in Charleville (Rathluirc), County Cork.
