Archbishop Narcissus Marsh 1638-1713

Born in Wiltshire. He was responsible for the building of the library named after him in the grounds of St Patrick’s Cathedral. This was one of the first free public libraries in Europe. The monument in the Cathedral used to be against the wall of the library, over the grave of Marsh, but due to weathering was brought indoors.
