Archbishop John Charles McQuaid 1895-1973

Born in Cootehill, County Cavan. He was made Archbishop of Dublin in 1940. He exerted an undue influence on the governments of the day. His opposition to Noel Browne’s Mother and Child scheme ensured that it was eventually dropped. He is buried in Dublin. The plaque reads:
