Sean Francis Lemass 1899-1971

Born in Dublin. He was a member of the Irish Volunteers and fought in the G.P.O. in 1916, and against the Treaty in the Four Courts. It was on his initiative that the Fianna Fáil party came into being. He served in several ministries and was responsible for establishing Aer Lingus, Bord na Mona, the Irish Tourist Board and Irish Shipping. In 1959, he succeeded de Valera as Taoiseach. He is buried in Dublin.
