Kathleen Lynn 1874-1955

Born in Cong, County Mayo. She was one of the first women to graduate in medicine from U.C.D. She was an activist who used her medical skills in the 1913 Lock Out and she was also active in the Irish Citizen Army. She was medical officer in the College of Surgeons during the Rising. She was on the executive of Sinn Féin in 1917 and in 1919 founded St Ultans Hospital for children. She disagreed with Sinn Féin in 1926 over social reforms and devoted the rest of her life to St Ultans. She is buried in Dublin.
