Valentin Iremonger 1918-1991

Born in Dublin. He was an actor with the Abbey and the Gate Theatres before he joined the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1946. He served as ambassador in a number of different countries before his retirement. He wrote poetry and his works include Horanís Field and Other Reservations and Sandymount Dublin. He also translated several autobiographies from the Irish language - The Hard Road to Klondyke and An Irish Navvy. He is buried in County Dublin.
