Paul Henry 1877-1958

Born in Belfast. Studied in Paris and in Whistlers Studio. In 1912 he went to Achill and stayed there for seven years, then moved to Dublin. He was elected to the RHA in 1929. Around this period he designed posters for the Tourist Board and the Railway Companies, but he is best known for his oil paintings of the scenery and characters of the West of Ireland. He is buried in County Wicklow.
