Stephen Gwynn 1864-1950

Born in Dublin. He worked as a teacher before taking up journalism. He served as a Nationalist MP for Galway 1906-1918, was a Redmond supporter, and fought with the British Army in the first World War, despite his age. He wrote poems, novels, biographies and travel books. These include A Lay of Ossian and St Patrick with Other Irish Verse, The Old Knowledge, The Fair Hills of Ireland, Beautiful Ireland and biographies on Moore, Swift and Goldsmith. He is buried in County Dublin.
