Robin Ernest William Flower 1881-1946

Born near Leeds, England. He was a Deputy Keeper of Manuscripts in the British Museum. He encouraged islanders from the Blaskets to record their memories and stories and published these as well as poems and translations. He wrote several collections of poems himself and his own memoir is called The Western Island.

He was cremated and his ashes were scattered from the great prehistoric fort site, An Dún, which was his favourite place on the island.
