Born near Listowel, County Kerry. He worked in the Civil Service for most of his working life. He wrote 17 plays in all and his works include The Country Dressmaker, The Pie-Dish, The Magic Glasses, The Dandy Dolls, The Moonlighter and The Crows of Mephistopheles and Other Stories. His later plays were a bit too experimental for his audiences and he became disillusioned and died a recluse. He is buried in Dublin.
