He was one of the four Kerry poets. He was hanged in Killarney for his part in the 1641 rebellion and for subsequent activities. He is best known for his love poetry, although not many of his poems survive. These were published in 1903 under the title Dánta Phiarais Feiritéir. According to tradition he is buried somewhere in or near Muckross Abbey, Killarney, County Kerry.
