Francis A. Fahy 1854-1935

Born near Kinvarra, County Galway. After his education he went to England where he joined the Civil Service. He took an active role in Irish literary and language groups making many contributions to various periodicals. He wrote many songs including The Ould Plaid Shawl, The O’Donovans, The Queen of Connemara and Haste to the Wedding. He is buried in London.
