James Connell 1852-1929

 Born in Kilskyre, County Meath, he wrote the words to the Red Flag. The lyrics were originally written to the tune of the White Cockade, although it is more often sung to the tune of Tannenbaum. Both airs were sung at his funeral. His remains were cremated in London.
