Stopford Brooke 1832-1916 Born near Letterkenny, County Donegal. He took holy orders and became a celebrated preacher. He was appointed chaplain to Queen Victoria in 1867. He wrote religious works, poems and literary studies but he is best known for his Primer of English Literature. He is buried in London.
