Henry Brooke 1703-1783 Born in Rantavan, County Cavan. He wrote plays, poems, novels and political pamphlets. His works include Universal Beauty, Gustavus Vasa and The Fool of Quality (five volumes) for which he is best remembered. He is buried in an unmarked grave beside the ruined church of Teampull Ceallaigh near Mullagh, County Cavan.
