Charlotte Brooke

Charlotte Brooke c1740-1793

Born in Rantavan, County Cavan. She was the daughter of Henry Brooke and edited his works. She is best known for collecting Irish poems and songs which she translated into English. These were published as Reliques of Irish Poetry.

She died in Longford and it is presumed locally that she was buried in St Johnís Church of Ireland on Battery Road.

Unfortunately the burial records only start in 1796 and there is no marked stone to her within the graveyard.
